Grit Blasting is the acceleration of particles by air or mechanical means to a surface or workpiece to achieve a variety of physical effects. Surface effects are also determined by abrasive media type, size, speed, and direction of impact. The visual appearance of a blasted surface tends to be dull to a bright satin-matte finish. A portable grit blasting machine is an industrial usage machine in which grit blasting performed over the workpiece. Grit Blaster is suitable for the purpose of blasting on the workpiece.
Grit Blasting Machine Working Principle
Grit blasting is a technique that uses the impact of hard particles to create surface textures. High-velocity particles collide with a metal surface, causing localized plastic deformation. The shape, size, hardness, and velocity of the shot particles using high-speed particles influence the resulting texture. It works on the principle in which the hopper consists of a blast generator. Where abrasives are pouring at the top of the machine (Grit blasting hopper) when a machine is not working and the blast generator is not pressurizing. At the top, a vibrating sieve is provided to sieve that will filter out the large grits.
Applications Of Grit Blasting Machine
A number of blasting applications are list below:
- Smoothing rough surfaces, roughening smooth surfaces, shaping a surface, and removing surface contaminants are all examples of how this process is used.
- Heat Treat Scale Removal
- Pre-Plate Finishing
- Mill Scale Removal
- Surface Cleaning
- Rust Removal
- Peening For Strength
- Coating Removal
- Blending Machine Marks
- Deburring
- Deflashing Plastic & Rubber
- Weld Discoloration Removal
- Glass Etching
- Mold Cleaning
All Recoverable Blast Systems, Cabinets, or Rooms consist of Delivery System, Containment System, abrasive media & Cleaning System.
What Is Grit Blasting Cabinet
A grit blasting cabinet is a closed system that enables the operator to recycle the abrasive after blasting. They consist of a process cabinet, an abrasive blasting system, a recycling system, and dust collection. Grit blasting cabinets can be operated manually, with the operator placing their arms in gloves attached to the cabinet to direct the blasting gun while viewing the operation through a viewing window and controlling the abrasive media with a foot pedal or treadle. Automated blasting cabinets, which may include several blasting nozzles and a system for conveying parts through the cabinet, can be used to process large quantities of the same component without direct operator interaction.
Grit blasting cabinets, like portable grit blasting cabinets or equipment, can be used for dry or wet blasting. Compressed air is used in suction blasting systems to create a vacuum in the abrasive blasting gun. This negative pressure draws the abrasive media into the blasting gun, where it can be directed with compressed air through the shot / sand blasting nozzle and at the workpiece. Pressure systems require the storage of abrasive media in a storage tank with a blasting hose attached. Both the abrsive blasting hose are pressurized to the same pressure, and the abrasive media is then fired with compressed gas from the blast nozzle.
