In today's industry in fact in all sectors of the industry, the phrase “better, faster, cheaper” is common and valid, as we can see the production demands are ever-increasing. The metal spray gun is Highly demanding requirements and aggressive service conditions will obviously lead to the premature loss of component or system function which is not feasible.
Metal Spray Gun Working
If the service life of any consumable part or equipment is deemed unacceptable, either the entire component must be made of a more wear-resistant material, or the area where the wear occurs must be protected. This leads to the use of surface coatings. As the requirement demands to Either the entire component can be coated or just the area prone to attack, whichever best fulfills the requirements.
Some surface requirements for a component can vary considerably depending on its service environment. The surface requirements include sufficient protection against wear, thermal insulation, corrosion resistance, electrical insulation, and even improved aesthetic appearance. Various types of wear and corrosion are the most frequent conditions the surface coating must withstand for which we can use the metal spray method for protection of the surface from corrosion and other surface problems.
The metal spray is defined as applying the metal coatings by means of special devices/systems which is called a metal spray gun through which melted or molten spray material is directed at high speed onto a cleaned and prepared component surface.
The material which is to be coated on the target surface is melted by a heat source. This molten material is then propelled by process gases and sprayed onto a target surface material, where it solidifies and forms a solid layer of coating. The individual aspects of a thermal sprayed coating follow this process of applying the molten metal spray on the component surface that has to be protected.
Types of Metal Spray Gun
In a metal spray gun, the feed metal can be in the form of wire, rod, or powder. There are various methods to feed the coating metal into the metal spray gun. and there are many types of metal spray guns like:
- Flame spray gun
- Electric arc spray gun
- Plasma spray gun
- HVOF gun
